Translating scientific texts and texts about science can be tricky. Expressions and phrases typically have narrowly defined meanings, and subtleties must not be lost, as it were, in translation. Also, cultural references that are perfect in one language don’t always work in another, and idioms can vary distinctly between languages. Literal translations and lack of detailed technical knowledge all too often lead to awkward translations.
